The prices of new 2020 Mahindra Thar have been leaked and based on that, the base variant will actually be priced under Rs 10 Lakhs!
The new Mahindra Thar is all set to be launched next month of 2nd October. The unofficial pre-bookings have commenced at dealerships while the official bookings are set to commence on the launch date itself. Now, reports have leaked the prices of the Thar which might be priced from under Rs 10 Lakhs.
Based on all the upgrades and improvements that it has received, we were expecting the new Thar to definitely start off from above Rs 10 Lakhs. The reported price range is Rs 9.75 Lakhs up to Rs 12.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Here’s a detailed variant wise price list:
- AX Petrol-Manual Soft Top – Rs 9.75 Lakhs
- AX Diesel Manual Soft Top – Rs 10.49 Lakhs
- AX(O) Petrol Manual Convertible – Rs 10.25 Lakhs
- AX(O) Diesel Manual Convertible – Rs 10.99 Lakhs
- LX Diesel Manual Hard Top – Rs 11.20 Lakhs
- LX Diesel Automatic Hard Top – Rs 12.29 Lakhs
- LX Petrol Automatic Hard Top – Rs 12.49 Lakhs

The price difference between each variant is not that high. Mainly, the top-end LX Diesel-AT trim will cost just around Rs 15.5 to Rs 16 Lakhs on-road makes it a very VFM product. However, these are just the introductory prices and later, they will increase. The deliveries will mostly commence a week after the launch.
The base Petrol-Manual AX variant will come with 4X4 with a low range transfer case, steel wheels, 6-seater configuration and a 6-speed manual stick. It will just get all the neccessary things for off-roading, since the AX trims are exclusively for that purpose. If you want all the bells and whistles, you have to choose the LX trims.
Powering the new generation Mahindra Thar are 2.0 Litre petrol and 2.2 Litre diesel engines. The petrol engine is good for 150 BHP and 320 Nm, whereas the diesel engine produces 130 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. Both of them come with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic as options.
