Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at their Ranjangaon facility in Pune, Jeep India created a one-of-a-kind Ganesh idol which measured 162 feet long and 185 feet wide with 122 units of the Compass SUV.
The state of Maharashtra just celebrated their famed Ganesh Chaturthi some time ago but the pandemic had most definitely dampened the spirits. And while coronavirus will continue to disturb other festivities as we approach the festive season, Jeep India had a very different approach to their celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. Jeep India used 122 units of the Compass SUV to create a one-of-a-kind Ganpati idol at their Ranjangaon facility near Pune.
Given the fact that Jeep India has their plant in Ranjangaon near Pune, which is known as one of ‘Astavinayak’ pilgrimage spots, they decided to create something special with their Compass SUVs. What you see above is truly a masterpiece. Jeep India’s employees meticulously chalked out all the logistics and made sure that all precautions were abided by, given the coronavirus situation. All social distancing norms were adhered to and one by one, the cars were driven out and positioned.
The resulting Ganpati idol was 162 feet long and 185 feet wide and it took 8 drivers to position all the cars in place. Jeep India even took the effort to make sure that the idol was perfect in terms of colors and proportion. In fact, these two aspects were of prime importance and more than 50 hours were spent in planning and execution of this model. Certainly a lot of time and effort went into creation of this idol.

The aerial view of the idol shows how well the colors were matched and compliment each other. Given that the world has been going through a tumultuous time and the automotive industry in India too has been slacking, this effort by Jeep India was special as they evoked the ‘Vighnaharta’ (the demolisher of obstacles) to help smoothen the ride hereon. Also, the Compass is the best selling product for Jeep in India and it was just apt to create this idol with the Compass.

Jeep also has a sub-compact SUV lined up for India which is then going to be the brand’s most affordable offering in India. On the other side of the spectrum, there’s a new Grand Cherokee in the works too. So there’s definitely a lot to look forward to from Jeep in India.
