Mahindra has shared an official video which shows the making of the new 2020 Thar and how it is truly an icon reborn.
Mahindra has finally unveiled the new generation Thar and we have already seen it up in personal. We have also driven the new Thar for a brief period and made a video out of it. Moving on, its launch is scheduled for 2nd October. The pricing will be revealed on that date and also, the bookings will commence then.
Mahindra has uploaded a fantastic video on how the new Thar is made. Also, all the officials related to the making of Thar have explained all the upgrades. First, they talk about how they wanted to make it accessible for daily commuting. While the older Thar was a little harsh for on-road travelling, the new one will overcome that issue.

Further, the video explains about the suspension setup, high ground clearance, water wading capacity and other such things that matter. The improved suspension setup will help the car reach atleast 150-160 km/hr. Also, they have done a moose test on the Thar which seems to have cleared the test easily.
The electronics are so advanced that once one wheel is in the air and starts reaching 60 RPM, the electronic braking differential comes into use. The NVH levels have been reduced by nearly 20-30%, which as per our personal experience is a lot better. Further, it also gets 4X4 low range transfer case that comes as standard fitment.
Powering the new Thar are two new engines, including a 2.2 Litre turbo diesel engine that is good for 130 BHP and a 2.0 Litre petrol engine that produces 150 BHP. Both the engines produce the same 320 Nm of peak torque. Also, a 6-speed manual stick and a 6-speed torque converter is available on both the engines.
