Ferrari has launched the F8 Tributo in India for a price of Rs 4.02 Crore and a handful of them has already been booked. Its trying to pay tribute to something really special, so let’s cherish it while we have it.
Its not everyday that a brand new Ferrari is launching in the country but when it happens, its truly special. The latest from Maranello to arrive in India is the Ferrari F8 Tributo which has just been launched in the country for a price of Rs 4.02 Crore, ex-showroom. Price tag aside (because most of us will not be able to care about it), the F8 Tributo takes off where the Ferrari 488GTB left. Its not a whole new car entirely as a lot has been derived from its predecessor – the 488GTB – but its still a new Ferrari and there’s lot to be excited about here.
But first, let’s address the name. There’s a ‘Tributo’ in the name which is intending to pay tribute to something. And that something is really really special. Well, you see, the F8 Tributo might very well be the last member of the Ferrai V8 family tree. Does the name ‘F8 Tributo’ sound apt now? Why last? Well, what seems inevitable is that the next generation of Ferrari mid-engines sportscars could be downsized to a V6 configuration, perhaps with hybrid technology. This is thus the last of its kind and you might as well celebrate it while you still have it.
So what are we celebrating exactly? The heart of the Ferrari F8 Tributo is a 3.9L, Twin-Turbo V8 engine that produces 710 PS of power and 770Nm of torque. This engine is really a beast and acclaimed by critics all over the world. The numbers are actually identical to what the Ferrari 488 Pista produced. In fact, the engine has been directly lifted from the Pista and put in here in the Tributo. That is why we said its not an entirely new car. It is also not the most powerful Ferrari V8 currently as that credit would go to the sensational SF90 Stradale which is Ferrari’s latest PHEV supercar with 780PS of power. That also imminently hints at the future.

Coming back to the F8 Tributo, its styling is however no carry forward from the 488GTB. All the body panels have been freshly designed and it even draws aero inspiration from the Ferrari GT and Challenge racing cars. That is why you see all those numerous vents on the car – the F1 inspired aero duct, the air ducts above the headlights, the ones on the front bumper, and also the side pods – a lot of it also aids cooling. The rear too has been completely redesigned with a much more aggressive diffuser but the spoiler is aimed a little lower than before to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

When you step inside, the cabin of the F8 Tributo seems a lot similar (not identical) to that of the 488GTB. The overall layout and design is the same but the switchgear has been changed and there are new designs for the AC vents as well. But you do not care about all that in a Ferrari, do you? Ferrari has a few interesting tag lines about the F8 Tributo, some of which reads like “driving at the limit with ease and confidence” and “exceptional and easily accessible performance”. What thus makes this beast user friendly is its new Slide Slip Control system version 6.1 which allows for greater control of the car even when driven at the limit in RACE mode. It also gets an F1 traction control system (F Track) and an electric differential (E-diff3) for even better traction. But is it all worth Rs 4.02 Crore? Of course it is. It’s a Ferrari after all.
