A couple of cars in the 30 Lakh range offer Park Assist feature. Here’s how it works in real life, taking an example of this Skoda Superb.
Autonomous parking or park assist is a very premium feature that is seen on high end cars, particularly in Volvo cars. For that, you require sensors on all the sides and sophisticated technology. However, a handful of cars in the 30-40 Lakhs range offer this feature, making them stand out of their competition.
For example, Ford Endeavour gets a semi auto parking feature. In that, you have to operate the accelerator and brake but the system will take care of steering wheel. Fully autonomous parking was first found on Volkswagen Passat and later on Skoda Superb L&K. Here’s a video where the owner of Superb shows how this feature works exactly.

First, you have to set your car either parallel or perpendicular to the open parking space. First, you have to press the park assist button on the centre console which will show up on the instrument cluster. Once the sensors detect a parking space, it will notify the driver on the cluster. If you want to park on right, then you will have to put on the right indicator to give a confirm to the system.
After fixing the place, you will be asked to put the gear into reverse slot. In autonomous parking, atleast for this car, you only have to take care of the brake. As you can see, the steering wheel has started moving automatically. If the rear or front parking sensors starts beeping, you will have to change the gear accordingly.
This feature is actually quite useful in the foreign countries but not that much in India. In our country, people park like they have no sense and just put their cars casually until it does not stick out on the road. Anyhow, for those who find parallel parking tough, will love this feature and never worry out brushing their car against another.
