Skoda has now officially launched the Rapid Rider Plus in India, which is basically an upgrade to the earlier base variant. It gets a considerable price hike but with more features.
Earlier last week, we confirmed that Skoda is going to launch an upgraded and more feature loaded version of the base-spec Rapid Rider variant. Now, it is officially announced that it gets an upgrade under the new Rider Plus variant. Skoda has launched the new variant which will be placed just above the base trim.
The prices continue to start at Rs 7.49 Lakhs for the Rider variant. The new variant gets a Rs 50,000 price hike and goes for Rs 7.99 Lakhs. The top-spec trim goes up to Rs 11.79 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom), making it the cheapest sedan in its segment. The bookings for the Rider as well as the Rider Plus variants are now open at dealerships.

For Rs 50,000 more, Skoda Rapid Rider Plus gets a couple of upgrades. That include Trunk Lip Garnish, Glossy Black B Pillar, Window Chrome Garnish, Climatronic Technology with Dust and Pollen Filter and a 16.51cm touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto, Mirror Link and Apple CarPlay. Rest of the features come from the Rider variant itself.
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and rear parking camera. The variant continues with wheel caps, halogen headlamps and basic features. Engine option remains the same 1.0 Litre three-cylinder TSI engine that produces 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. There’s no automatic on offer right now as it comes with a 6-speed MT as standard.
Rapid continues to rival the likes of Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna. There’s a tough competition like always between Vento and Rapid but the latter is cheaper now. Both of them actually offer the same features with the same engine. In comparison to other, Rapid is the most affordable executive sedan. Skoda has confirmed that due to its competitive pricing, Rapid has received a lot of bookings in the past month.
