Skoda has created quite some headlines with the launch of the new BS6 Rapid. The BS6 Skoda Rapid comes with a new 1.0L TSI petrol engine from the VW family and with it, it has also redeemed its image of being one of the most fun to drive cars in its segment. Skoda also created headlines with the base Rider variant of the Rapid which is the most affordable variant of any compact sedan in this segment and is also extremely good value-for-money. Having said that, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition has to be the most eye catching of the lot.
Here we have a walkaround video taking you through the design and features highlights of the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition. The Monte Carlo edition stands out with its distinctive sporty character. If you thought that the Rapid was a dated sedan and that its started to show its age, it definitely isn’t true with the Monte Carlo edition. With a design that distinctly European, Skoda has done a wonderful job in differentiating the Monte Carlo edition from the rest of the range with neat styling changes. In fact, it’s almost a facelift over the standard car.
Starting with the face, the Monte Carlo edition gets an all-black butterfly grille with smoked out headlamps with LED DRLs and also smoked out fog lamps. These blacked-out elements contrast really well with the Candy Red paint shade that’s exclusive to the Monte Carlo edition. On the sides, this Rapid gets exclusive dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels which again add to the sporty persona of the car. Just like the face, the side profile also gets blacked out elements along the entire window section and a very cool ‘Monte Carlo’ badge on the B-pillar.

At the rear, there aren’t many changes from the standard car. It gets a blacked-out faux diffuser on the bumper and also a black boot lid spoiler. The tail lamps remain unchanged from the standard car. The Monte Carlo edition also gets a blacked out roof and black ORVMs. Overall, its definitely a handsome sporty looking sedan. As you step inside the car, you see that the car gets a black theme for the dashboard to continue with the sporty character. While the dashboard looks alright in black, the leatherette seats do however look a little tacky because of their design and appear a little too busy.

That aside, the cabin is otherwise quite a nice place to spend time in. It comes decently equipped with features but its certainly not class-leading in this regard. Also, in terms of features, the Style variant of the Rapid is more generously equipped. The 1.0L TSI engine on the Rapid produces 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque and the engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. At a price for Rs 11.79 lakh, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition brings something very different to the table and is quite affordable indeed. If driving pleasure is your priority and you want to make a statement with your car, the Rapid Monte Carlo edition does that extremely well.
