The launch of the next-gen Honda City is just a week away and there’s already quite a lot of excitement buzzing around that. The new Honda City is one of the most important launches of this year and we can tell you the new City is a significant improvement over the existing one. The new Honda City has also grown a lot more premium in its appeal and because it will be sold alongside the current-gen City, it will have a premium positioning in the market. Honda has even gone ahead and equipped the base V variant of the new-gen City quite generously with features.
Here we have a walk-around video of the new Honda City in its base V variant to give you a quick look at what you get inside and out. This video has been uploaded by Thirsty wheels on their youtube channel. Starting on the outside, the good news is that even though its the base variant, it still looks premium. The only difference with the top-spec ZX variant on the face are the absence of fog lamps and full-LED headlamps. This V trim instead gets halogen projector headlamps but it still gets sharp looking LED DRLs with turn signal integrated within the headlamp cluster.
The face is otherwise completely identical to the top-spec trim with the same bumpers and sleek chrome grille. In profile, the only thing missing here are the 16-inch alloy wheel. Instead, you get 15-inch steel wheel with wheel covers. What’s also missing are chrome door handles and turn indicators on the ORVMs. The turn indicators have instead been places on the fender panels. The rear profile of the new City remains identical for all the trims. Even in this base trim, you get three-dimensional LED tail lamps and sporty looking bumpers.

However, when you step inside, there are quite a few differences to note. Firstly, it’s the all-black theme of the dashboard which takes away slightly from the premium feel of the new City. Higher-spec trims come with black and beige interior scheme which feels really premium. The second thing you notice is the lack of an infotainment screen. That’s honestly a huge let down as someone who pays Rs 11 lakh for a car definitely deserves a touchscreen infotainment system, something that has become the new normal in the car industry. The instrument console also gets a very dated MID in between the analog dials.

In this base V trim, you get black fabric upholstery instead of leather and the rear seats do not get the central armrest either. The headrests on the rear seat are not adjustable either. You thankfully get the automatic climate control system as that’s a really important feature to have. You also get powered operations for all four windows, steering wheel mounted audio controls, simple music system, manually height adjustable driver seat, and so on. Overall, the interiors in this base-spec trim seems to lack the flare you would expect from the Honda City. The all-black theme lets it down, the equipment list could have been more generous and materials used could also have been a little better. We would definitely recommend you to upgrade to the mid-spec VX variant as that sorts all of these problems and is a little more fancy too.
