MG Motors officially opened bookings for the Hector Plus just yesterday and now they have announced that they are going to launch the SUV on July 13 in India. It’s going to be MG’s third product in India.
MG Motors opened bookings for the upcoming Hector Plus just yesterday and now the company has announced that they will launch the SUV on July 13, 2020. Bookings for the MG Hector Plus can be done via MG’s India website and the booking amount has been pegged at Rs 50,000. The Hector Plus will be the third product from MG Motors in India and it is essentially a six-seater version of the very popular Hector SUV.
Essentially, the Hector Plus is a three-row version of the standard Hector which will come with two captain chairs for the middle row and an additional third row. Apart from extra seating, the Hector Plus also boasts of some styling changes. The Hector Plus gets a new grille which is much sleeker than before. The bumpers have also been revised and the main headlamp cluster has also been changed for a more angular look. The DRLs at the top too have been revised. At the rear, the tail lamps have been made sleeker with a new rear bumper and new dual-exit exhaust design. The LED light bar from the Hector that is positioned on the tailgate has been removed.
The Hector Plus has grown 40mm in length over the regular Hector. It however has the same wheelbase, width and height as the regular Hector. This increase in length can be attributed to the reworked rear bumper. On the inside, the dashboard design remains identical to the the standard Hector but it now gets a new tan-brown upholstery and it looks really premium. The same material has also been used as a dashboard insert and it also adds a nice contrast to the otherwise all-black cabin. The Hector Plus will come in three variants – Super, Smart and Sharp.
Top-spec variants of the Hector Plus will come with features such as LED headlamps and DRLs, front and rear parking sensors, heated wing mirrors, powered front seats and even a hands-free opening function for the tailgate. Safety features on the SUV will include six airbags, ABS, ESC, hill-hold assist, traction control, a tyre pressure monitor and a 360-degree camera.

The Hector remains mechanically unchanged from the standard Hector. That means it will be powered by a 143hp 1.5 liter turbo-petrol engine, the 1.5 liter turbo-petrol-hybird engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a 170hp 2.0 liter diesel engine. While the diesel engine and the mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the non-hybrid turbo-petrol engine comes mated to a 6-speed DCT transmission. The diesel is the only powertrain option available on all the three variants. Meanwhile, the petrol-auto will be available only on the Smart and Sharp variants while the hybrid-manual is only available on the top-spec Sharp variant. That also means that with the base trim, you will only have the option of the diesel powertrain.
