While the current-gen Honda Civic was launched in India only last year, it has been around in global markets since 2015. Honda is thus already testing the next-gen Civic internationally and here’s your first look at it.
The current-gen Honda City was launched in India just last year and while its barely been over a year since then, Honda already seems to be testing the next-gen car internationally. Some new images of a Honda prototype model have surfaced on the internet and judging by it’s looks, it most likely is the next-gen Honda Civic. This camouflaged test mule was spotted in Malaysia and new-gen car seems to packing in a lot of visual updates.
Even though the current-gen model was launched in India just year, the model in its tenth-generation has been around in the global markets since 2015. That means it has already completed five years globally and this could just be the right time for the new-gen model to roll in. In fact, Honda has already discontinued the current-gen Civic in its home country, Japan, due to poor sales. While its too early to comment of the technical specifications of the car, we are more excited with its new looks.
Although this test mule comes wrapped in heavy camouflage and it’s not possible to talk about the details of the design, there are still certain things we are able to make out. The face looks completely revamped with new twin-port LED headlamps, which look similar to the once seen on the 2022 Civic Type R, and is also undergoing tests globally. The bumpers look much sharper with larger air intakes and the grille is sleeker still. In fact, it now looks much closer to the Accord and even the new City.

When viewed in profile, the new Civic seems to have a flatter boot at the rear. While it still continues with a coupe-like roofline, its also a little more sedan like this time around. The bonnet also seems to have grown longer on the new Civic and there are new ORVMs too. The black alloy wheels seen here on this test mule are however temporary units. We do not get a look at the rear of the new Civic but we expect comprehensive changes there too.

There still quite some time away before the new-gen Civic debuts and eventually makes it to India. Closer to home however, Honda is expected to launch the BS6 iteration of the Civic diesel this week itself. It was discontinued as we stepped into the BS6 era but is now set to make a comeback. More importantly, Honda also has the launch of the next-gen City sedan scheduled for July 15 in India. After that, we should also see the launch of the BS6 Jazz facelift this month too.
