Here’s an interesting drag race between a Tata Harrier and a Toyota Innova Crysta. The race was quite closely fought but there’s only one clear winner. Read on to find out.
We have been bringing you several drag races over the past many weeks but here’s a drag race that was quite closely fought and between two rather great cars. This drag race is the Tata Harrier vs Toyota Innova Crysta. Although both cars are quite different, they are both very popular in their segments. The Tata Harrier is a butch looking SUV which feels really premium and is powered by a punchy diesel engine. Meanwhile, the Innova Crysta appeals to an entirely different audience comfort, bullet proof reliability and passenger carrying capacity.
But let’s put all of those aspects aside because here we are more interested in the drag race between the two. This video has been uploaded by Drive King on their youtube channel. The Tata Harrier here is a BS4-spec car as can be made out from its wheels. It is however not known whether the Innova Crysta used here is a petrol or diesel version of MPV. The race is conducted in two rounds and the result is the same for both.
The video has been recorded from inside the Innova Crysta. It can be made out from the video that the Innova Crysta gets off the line better and manages to get a little ahead but the Tata Harrier soon catches up and then overtakes the Innova Crysta. The Harrier then keeps on increasing its lead until the innova has lost the race. In the second round as well, the Innova Crysta gets off the line better but the Harrier catches it quickly and over takes it. This time however, the Innova did a better job of keeping up with the Harrier.

Looking at how the Innova Crysta was getting off the line, we are guessing it must be a diesel engine under the hood of the Innova Crysta. If its the diesel engine, it must be the 2.4 litre diesel variant which generates 148 Bhp and 343 Nm of torque. In terms of numbers, both the cars are quite evenly matched but it is the weight of the Innova Crysta that is letting it down both the times. A heavier vehicle will be slow in gaining speed and reaching its top speed as compared to a lighter vehicle.

In comparison, the Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 138 Bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The Harrier has a slightly more torquier engine than the Innova Crysta but the weight advantage advantage meant Harrier could easily win the race. This race was however conducted on open public and we do not recommend you to do such things as it compromises on your safety as well as of other. Find a closed stretch of road or a private track for such kind of fun.
