After having opened bookings for the BS6 Civic Diesel earlier last month, Honda has now announced that they will launch the Civic Diesel next week in India. The powertrain remains the same but we expect a steep hike in price.
Honda had opened booking for the BS6 Civic Diesel earlier last month and now, we have come to know that the BS6 Honda Civic Diesel is slated for its launch next week in India. The petrol variant of the Civic has always been BS6 complaint ever since it was launched in India in March last year. Bookings for the BS6 Civic Diesel are still ongoing at either the company’s official website or you can also visit a Honda dealership as most are back operational again.
The BS6 Honda Civic Diesel will continue with the same 1.6 Litre i-DTEC diesel engine. Honda had earlier discontinued this engine when we entered the BS6 era but are again bringing it back now. The engine produces 120 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque which might sound a bit underwhelming for its class. However, due to this, the fuel efficiency figures of Civic Diesel are the best in class and also the best in its price range. Honda claims that it will offer a mileage of 25 kmpl.
As before, the engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard fitment. Honda is still not offering an automatic gearbox with the Civic diesel just as they are not doing with the new-gen City either. The other engine option includes a 1.8 Litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 141 PS and 174 Nm of peak torque. In fact, this engine solely comes mated to a CVT automatic gearbox.
