With over 30,000 bookings, the Hyundai Creta is already the company’s best selling model for May 2020. Over 55% of all Creta sales were diesel while the two petrol iteration made up the rest 45%.
The new-gen Hyundai Creta always had a huge task to deliver in filling up the shoes of the older Creta. And has rightfully stood up to the expectations. Hyundai India has announced that the new-gen Creta has crossed the 30,000 bookings mark since its launch in March, earlier this year. In fact, in May 2020, the Creta was Hyundai’s best selling model in India with 3212 units being despatched to dealerships. Hyundai has achieved this despite the nation-wide lockdown that was imposed right after the launch of the new Creta. The company had to ensure that dealerships are stocked up for timely delivery of vehicles as online bookings were still open.
The new Creta accounted for nearly half the total sales for Hyundai in May 2020, thus leaving no doubt that it has again become the company’s best selling mode. What’s even more surprising is that 55% of all Cretas sold as of now were the diesel variants while the rest 45% comprised the two petrol iterations. Hyundai says that customers have been really impressed with an expansive feature list of the new-gen Creta. Some of these features are segment-first features such as the panaramaic sunroof, paddle shifters, electronic parking Brake with auto hold, rear seat headrest cushion, rear disc brake and dual exhaust tips.
The Creta has always been a popular choice when it comes to SUVs under a budget of Rs 15 Lakhs. While the prices of the new-gen Creta go a little above Rs 15 lakh, it is one of the most feature-rich SUVs in the class and very reliable and but the styling of the new-gen Creta is quite polarizing. However, looking at the numbers, seems like most people are finding the styling to be an issue. The new Creta and Seltos are based on the same platform and also use the same set of engines. The 1.5L petrol and diesel engines and the 1.4L turbo-petrol engine are shared by both the cars.
