Check out this quick drag race between Maruti Vitara Brezza and a more powerful Ford Ecosport. Prepare to be astonished by the results!
Maruti Vitara Brezza Diesel remains no more but many buyers still want it. Despite it being a bit underpowered, it was torquey enough for quick sprints and was also very fuel efficent. On the other hand, we have the Ford Ecosport which is another enthusiast SUV. It might be the oldest and most outdated SUVs in its segment, but a leader when it comes to enthusiastic driving experience.
Here’s a drag race between Ford EcoSport Diesel and Maruti Vitara Brezza diesel. Two attempts have been done to see and confirm the actual winner. In the first attempt, you can see the Vitara Brezza gaining a clear headstart and it literally races ahead. The Ecosport takes up its own time and is smoked up by Vitara.

In the second attempt, both of them are battling it out. There’s a neck to neck competition as you can see both of them gaining the first spot for just some seconds and then the other one takes lead. Finally towards the end, Ecosport wins the race with literally a couple of milliseconds in the lead. For the second attempt, the drivers were switched.
A shocker comes in the way that EcoSport is slightly more powerful than the Vitara Brezza. The former gets a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 100 PS and 215 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine of Brezza is the 1.3 Litre MJD unit that puts out 89 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Both of them achieve their peak torque at just 1750 RPM.
The primary reason for Maruti Vitara Brezza to win is because it is comparatively lighter. Ecosport is around 200 kilograms heavier than Brezza. Also, the torque to weight ratio of Brezza is a lot higher than that of Ecosport. However, if their petrol versions are put in a race, there are chances that EcoSport might have a win.

Vitara Brezza only gets a petrol engine now that produces 104 BHP and comes mated to a 5-speed MT/4-speed AT. Ecosport loses out on the automatic variants and the 1.0 Litre Ecoboost engine but continues with petrol and diesel engines. Soon, it is going to get a 1.2 Litre turbo petrol engine from the Mahindra XUV300.
