Skoda has now launched the BS6 Compliant Rapid which is now the cheapest sedan in its segment. It also goes against compact sedans like Amaze and Dzire.
Skoda recently launched three new BS6 cars including Rapid, Karoq and Superb Facelift. As for the Rapid, its prices now start at Rs 7.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Since the diesel engine has been discontinued and there is no automatic gearbox on offer, Rapid is now the most affordable sedan that you can buy now.
With a very low price range, Skoda Rapid now goes against the likes of compact sedans as well. Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze are priced at par with the Rapid. Like you can get a bigger and more premium Rapid for the same price of a smaller but top-end Amaze or Dzire. So, here is a price comparison for a better understanding.

As you can see here, you can buy the mid variants of Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura for a similar price of the Skoda Rapid. Or by just paying nearly a Lakh more, you can get the mid variants of Rapid instead of the top end variants of Amaze, Dzire and Aura. Aspire comes off as a great deal as its top end variant comes at par with the base variant of Rapid.
The advantages for Rapid is that it is comparatively bigger, more comfortable and premium as well. Also, it gets a more powerful 1.0 Litre TSI engine that produces 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. However, it only gets a manual variant without the option of any automatic gearbox.
In this comparison, we have only taken the prices of petrol variants and not diesel variants. The diesel variants of Amaze and Aura cost well above Rs 9 Lakhs. Also, the sub compact sedans will offer more variants than the base or even mid variant of Rapid. So, its clearly a customer’s choice that if we wants more power or comfort or if he would rather go with features.

The mid variant of Rapid comes with most of the features but still missing out on cruise control, automatic rain-sensing wipers and rear parking camera. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available from the mid Ambition variant, while the base variant goes off with just a 2-DIN bluetooth infotainment system.
