Spy pictures of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class without camouflage have now surfaced on the internet and it reveals a complete new design language for both the exterior and interiors.
Mercedes-Benz has been working a new generation of the S-Class and it has been spied several times wearing camouflage. Now however, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been spotted without camouflage for the first time and the flagship sedan has almost been completely revealed. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes with completely refreshed styling, both inside and out and it will be powered by petrol, diesel and even hybrid powertrains when it debuts next year. Let’s look at it in a little more detail.
The most noticeable change on the front is the new chrome grille which is larger and more rounded off than before. The grille is flanked by brand new headlamp units that are sleeker look similar to no other Mercedes-Benz car. The one pictured above appears to be an AMG-spec car and the front bumper is also more contoured than before. The front-end look is completed off by the tri-star hood ornament. The tail lamps at the rear have also been completely redesigned and look similar to the ones on the new E-Class. The two tail lamp units are connected by a strip of chrome and the bumper has been slightly revised as well.
While the exterior may still seem familiar, it is the interiors that have been completely revamped. Mercedes’ twin-screen setup has been ditched for a new portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system. The conventional center console with Mercedes’ swivel wheel and stack of buttons have also been ditched for a single band of switches below the screen which flows smoothly down the central tunnel. The driver instrument cluster has also been completely changed and there’s a new three-spoke steering wheel as well. The dashboard does not boast of leather anymore but appears to be a glossy wooden trim. The AC vents too have been completely redesigned.

But the S-Class is all about the rear passenger and you can expect a lot more opulence, tech and pampering to be meted out to the rear occupant. Although there’s no image for the same, the rear passenger will get a new touchscreen unit in between the armrests to control various aspects of the car. In terms of features, the flagship S-Class will come loaded to the brim with features such as the latest version of the MBUX system, powered seats with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, fold-out tray tables, ambient lighting and lots more. It will also come with air suspension and drive modes as standard along with several driver assistance features as well.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t spoken anything about the powertrain of the next-gen 2021 S-Class. However, we expect it will continue with its current 3.0L petrol and diesel engines. There will most certainly be a new hybrid powertrain and the AMG version could continue to be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine. If Mercedes will continue with the V12 engine in the AMG-spec S-Class is something that remains to be seen. The new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will make its global debut by the end of 2020 and is expected to come to India by late 2021.
