This Hyundai Verna Crashes Into A Wall Of Qutub Minar; Goes Up In Flames

Amidst the lockdown, this Hyundai Verna was reported in a high profile accident as it crashed up against the wall of Qutub Minar.

This Hyundai Verna has been caught up in three major crimes, one of them addressed to the ongoing lockdown. In the wee hours of May 4, at around 3:30 AM a man crashed his Verna into a wall of Qutub Minar. The car entered the peripheral complex of the archaeological site and cause some damage to it as well.

The owner is a resident of Mahipalpur and was driving his Hyundai Verna under influence of alcohol. The guards suddenly saw a car breaking inside the campus and crashed into a wall. The guards rushed and managed to get the driver out of the car so that he would not run away. The next moment, the car went up in flames.

The driver escaped with some injuries and was admitted to the hospital later. He is a used cars dealer and as per the lockdown guidelines, he is not in the exempted services list. That means he was out on a joyride. This accident happened before the liquor shops started opening up, later that morning.

With this accident, the driver has done three crimes. First is drunk driving, second is creating damage to a world heritage site and third, breaking the lockdown rules. A case has been registered against the driver and as of now, he is still admitted to the hospital. However, he has done some serious offences which are likely to get him some jail time.

The DCP South has also blamed the on-field police for letting him travel during the lockdown. As per the guidelines, the accused should not be roaming and should have been caught at the first check post itself. Now, the use of private vehicles is allowed in Delhi even for non-essential services, but only in their zones.

Many irresponsible people are thinking that since the roads are empty, it would be a good time to roam around the city. People need to understand that by stepping out, even for essentials, they are putting their as well as their family’s life in danger.
