The owner of this Porsche Boxster was out to distribute food to the poor and was even carrying necessary passes to be out during the lockdown. Here’s why he was publicly harassed.
We have seen some pretty serious actions being taken against offenders in these times of lockdown. From lathi charges to monetary fines to even being sent to the jail in worst case scenarios, we have seen the police try out everything to keep people at home. But the funniest measure has to be the policemen making people, who have come out of homes unnecessarily, do sit-ups and then make the videos viral on the internet. Here is another example of such a video that went viral on the internet but the person being made to do sit-ups here is the owner of a Porsche Boxster. Not quite the thing you’d want to be seen doing when owning such a car!
This incident took place in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where this 20-year old youngster in a Porsche 718 Boxster was stopped by the Nagar Suraksha Samiti guard on the road and was made to do sit-ups. The driver, Sanskar Daryani is the son of business tycoon Deepak Daryani. In his defense, Sanskar later released a video saying that he had all the necessary passes to be out during the lockdown and was only out to distribute food packets to the poor in the vicinity. He was however stopped by a group of people of from Nagar Suraksha Samiti. Although Sanskar tried explaining to them that he had all necessary passes to be out, they abused him, cracked jokes at him and made him do sit-ups for not wearing a mask.
He even insisted that they check his pass but the people from the Nagar Suraksha Samiti were just not ready to listen. You can see a person in black security uniform holding a stick and ordering him to do sit-ups. Sanskar obediently obliges and does exactly as he was told. Father of Sanskar released a statement saying that the people from the council members stopped him illegally and made him do sit-ups. He has filed a complaint at the police station about civilians trying to enforce the law on his son.

This is quite a sensitive case here. Sanskar even claims to be carrying a mask but did not have it on his face at the time of driving his car. He did not actually need it while being inside his car. The video going viral certainly has brought a lot of humiliation to Sanskar and his family. Moreover, the Nagar Suraksha Samiti is made up of retired personnel from Army, paramilitary and police. Although not officially in service, the local police station claims that they use members from the Nagar Suraksha Samiti as volunteers for enforcing law around the city.

Sanskar Daryani seems to be have unfairly prosecuted here and caused humiliation when he was actually out for a good cause. There have been many other instances where civilian have been harassed by the police in spite of being out on the road for emergency purposes. However, this bring yellow Porsche Boxster was certainly going to catch eyes in these times. Yes, there are a lot of casualties happening in spite of the legally enforced lockdown but the authorities should have properly inspected the case here. It should be noted that the authorities in many states have made face masks mandatory whenever going out of the homes. In Indore, the authorities have advised wearing the masks but it is not mandatory.
