Mahindra have silently updated their website with the price of the BS6 Alturas G4 and it is more expensive by Rs 1 lakh for both the 4×2 and the 4×4 variants.
Even amidst this lockdown, Mahindra has silently updated their website with the price of the BS6 Alturas G4. The BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 is now available from a starting price of Rs 28.69 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 31.69 lakh. Like before, it continues to be available in just two variants – the base 4×2 variant and the top-end 4×4 variant. The Mahindra Alturas G4 has actually seen a massive hike in price of Rs 1 lakh for both the variants.
The BS4-spec Mahindra Alturas G4 was available for a price of Rs 27.7 lakh for the base 4×2 variant while the top-end 4×4 version retailed for Rs 30.7 lakh. Incidentally, both the trims see a hike in price of Rs 1 lakh and that’s one of the steepest hikes we have seen with BS6 vehicles. The Alturas G4 is powered by a big diesel engine and we can therefore understand it must have been expensive to upgrade the big oil burner to cleaner emissions.
The BS6 Alturas G4 remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 2.2L four-cylinder diesel engine that in its BS4-spec produced 181bhp of power and 420Nm of peak torque. Although Mahindra has not officially confirmed the engine specifications yet, we expect it will remain identical to the BS4 engine. The engine solely comes mated to Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic gearbox. There’s no manual gearbox option.

We also do not expect to see any changes on the inside in terms of dashboard layout or design. A few additional features with the BS6 update would be a surprise from Mahindra. In terms of features, the SUV is already pretty well loaded and gets features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, cruise control, coloured multi-info display, and ventilated seats. Safety features include nine airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera, electronic stability program, hill start assist, and hill descent control.

Previously, it was expected that Mahindra would also update the SUV with some cosmetic changes like some differently styled alloy wheels and a slight revision to the face. However, from what we see on the teaser imahe that Mahindra shared a couple of days ago, there will be no cosmetic changes on the SUV. The BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 continues to rival the likes of the Ford Endeavor and Toyota Fortuner. Although it has seen a hike in price by Rs 1 lakh, its still competitively priced in the segment.
