Jeep will start with the Compass facelift in 2021 followed by a new seven-seater SUV, a sub-4m SUV and then two more ‘iconic’ products for India. We cant wait to find out more.
Stepping into the BS6 era, Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) have pulled the plug on the Fiat brand in India with the discontinuation of the Grande Punto and the Linea. The company will now solely focus on the Jeep brand in India and are looking to revamp their entire product lineup in India. Jeep launched the Compass in 2017 in India and that really got things going for them. The revamp in the lineup will be initiated by the Jeep Compass facelift and then there’s a whole lot more.
Fiat Chrysler Automotive have confirmed that the company is in the process of adding more products to its lean portfolio. The Jeep Compass facelift will be followed by a new three-row SUV that will go against the likes of the Endeavour and Fortuner. Going forward, Jeep will even introduce a sub-4m SUV in the market which will be the brand’s most affordable SUV ever. The brand also has two ‘iconic’ products in store for us, much details of which are not known yet.
The Compass facelift is due for India by early 2021. The updated SUV will come with major cosmetic changes. We have already reported with spy images of the same on a previous occassion. The major change will however be on the inside with the SUV slated to to get a heavily updated dashboard featuring a much larger touchscreen infotainment system. Although the Compass is already decently equipped, the updated SUV will pack in much more features including connected-car technology.
As for Jeep’s new three-row SUV, it will be based on the Compass platform itself. You can think of it as a seven-seater version of the Compass essentially. However, unlike its body-on-frame rival SUVs, this will be a monocoque SUV and Jeep says it will still be plenty capable off the road. This is SUV is also expected to be launched in 2021. The most important product for Jeep will however be the new sub-4m SUV and its internally known as the Jeep 526.

Jeep says that this SUV will feature a 4WD system that’s similar to the one on the Fiat Panda. It will have an upright stance and will be a ‘true Jeep’ according to sources. This will then be first sub-4m SUV with a 4WD system in the segment. This however is still some time away and its global debut is expected in 2022. But for 2021, Jeep has said that there are two more ‘iconic’ products, one of which we are expecting is the next-gen Grand Cherokee. The current-gen Grand Cherokee has been around for quite a while and it really needs an update now.

The next-gen Grand Cherokee is said to be based on the same platform as Alpha Romeo SUVs and it will be much larger and much more luxurious than the model it replaces. It will also include a range of powertrains including petrol, diesel and hybrid. FCA also has a few electric cars up their sleeve like an upcoming electric Wrangler and the recently launched Fiat 500 EV. They could bring these products to India in the future if there is sufficient demand and an infrastructure to support the same under the 2500-unit rule for CBUs. There’s really a lot going on at Jeep and much to look forward to.
