Renault Duster Turbo Petrol was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo with a new 1.3 Litre TCE engine. It was scheduled to be launched in April.
Renault has discontinued its 1.5 Litre diesel engine, in the wake of BS6 norms. The engine was available in two tunes producing 85 PS/200 Nm and 110PS/245 Nm. The 85PS unit came only with a 5-speed MT, whereas the 110PS came with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT.
To replace the diesel engine, Renault introduced the Duster Turbo. It gets a much more powerful 1.3 Litre TCe turbo-petrol engine. The motor is capable of producing 156 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. That makes it powerful than the MG Hector, Kia Seltos and 2020 Hyundai Creta too.
Duster | Hector | Seltos | Creta | |
Engine | 1.3 Litre turbo | 1.5 Litre turbo | 1.4 Litre turbo | 1.4 Litre Turbo |
Power | 156 PS | 143 PS | 143 PS | 143 PS |

As you can see, the Duster turbo produces about 13 PS more than Hector, Seltos and Creta. While Hector matches it with the torque figures, Seltos and Creta produce slightly lower torque figures. Interestingly, Duster gets the lowest capacity engine amongst the four.
Hector goes with a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. As for Seltos and Creta, they share their 1.4 Litre T-GDI turbo-petrol unit. However, Seltos, Creta and Hector, all three come with a DCT gearbox with their turbo engines.
Renault Duster Turbo is most likely to get a 6-speed MT with the option of a CVT gearbox. The SUV is sold in three variants now, and the same ones will be offered with the turbo engine. Due to the BS6 norms, all the diesel variants and the AWD trim has also been discontinued.
