BMW has launched a new entry level variant of the X7 in India and the all the variants are now locally assembled. However, all variants of this luxury SUV are now more expensive than before.
BMW has silently updated the X7 variant lineup in India. The German carmaker has launched a new entry-level xDrive30d DPE variant of the X7. The BMW X7 xDrive30d DPE is now available for a price of Rs 92.50 lakhs in India which essentially reduces its starting price by Rs 6.40 lakh.
Along with this new variant, the previously available xDrive40i trim which came in as full import will now be brought to India as a CKD unit (completely knocked down) in an M Sport guise and it has been priced at Rs 1.07 crore. Although, its a CKD, the prices have still gone up because of the M Sport package. Now, the entire BMW X7 line-up in India is locally assembled.

There are no mechanical changes on the BMW X7 in India. It continues to be powered by 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel and petrol engines. The former produces 265bhp while the latter produces 340bhp. Both the engines come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and power is naturally sent to all four wheels.
In terms of safety features, the SUV boasts of seven airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill descent control, Isofix child seat anchor and a tyre pressure monitoring system. As for the new xDrive30d DPE variant, it gets a seven-seat layout, launch control, air suspension, LED headlights, 4-zone automatic climate control, powered front seats, powered rear window sunshades, digital instrument cluster, rear parking camera and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay.
The xDrive30d DPE Signature variant is a six-seater version of the X& and it additionally gets features like a hands-free tailgate, “Laser” headlamps, 5-zone climate control, rear seat touchscreens and a 360-degree parking camera. Additionally, it now also features ventilated and heated front seats. However, prices for this variant has gone up by almost Rs 3.60 lakh. BMW had previously announced that the prices of their entire model range in India will go up with the BS6 updates and this development is inline with the company had said before.

As for the top-spec xDrive40i variant, it sees a bump in price by almost Rs 8 lakhs insipite of being a CKD now. It has however gained a significant amount on the equipment front along with the M Sport Package. The xDrive40i variant was previously launched as a seven-seater version but now its a six-seater SUV and it shares most of its equipment with the xDrive30d DPE Signature variant. Moreover, it now also exclusively gets a heads-up display and active cruise control with stop and go function.

BMW India will further expand the X7 line-up in the coming months with the launch of the M50d that gets a 400hp/760Nm, 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder, quad-turbocharged diesel engine. In terms of rivals, the range topping BMW SUV competes with the Range Rover and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS in our market.
