With the BS6 update, the TVS Apache RTR 180 sees a bump in price by Rs 6,700 and it is now Rs 7,500 more expensive than the recently launched BS6 Apache RTR 160.
TVS has now listed the BS6 Apache RTR 180 on their India website for a price of Rs 1.01 lakhs, ex-showroom. That makes it Rs 6,700 more expensive than the outgoing BS4 model. That also makes it Rs 7,500 more expensive than the recently launched BS6 Apache RTR 160. TVS has also launched its BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160 4V which costs Rs 1.01 lakh (drum brake variant) and Rs 1.04 lakh (disc brake variant).
The Apache RTR 180 last received an update in 2018 when it was given a new colour scheme, different seat material, white back-lit speedometer and a redesigned crash guard. With the BS6 update however, the Apache RTR 180 isn’t expected to receive any significant design changes.
We are also awaiting official information from TVS on how the BS6 update has affected the power outputs of the motorcycle. The 177.4cc, two-valve, air-cooled engine currently produces 16.6hp at 8,500rpm and 15.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. While most motorcycles have seen a drop in power and torque outputs, TVS recently managed to bump up the peak output figures on the recently launched BS6 Apache RTR 160.

If TVS has done that on one motorcycle, the RTR 180 could also see a similar treatment. We will only know with time. Other than that, the BS6 Apache RTR 180 is expected to remain identical to BS4 model in terms of mechanical hardware. The motorcycle gets petal disc brakes – 270mm at the front and 200mm at the rear – along with a single-channel ABS system. It will also continue to feature a double cradle frame, telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear for suspension duties.

The TVS Apache RTR 180 has always been a great value for money offering and is one of the most complete motorcycles in its class. With the BS6 update and even with a bump in price, it still remains a very lucrative offering at its price point. The Apache RTR 180 competes with the likes of the BS6 Suzuki Gixxer (which costs considerably more at Rs 1.12 lakh) and the Yamaha FZ V3.0.
