SAAB (Saab Automobile AB) is a Sweden based automobile maker founded in the year 1937. So far, the ownership of SAAB has moved through many major Automobile companies and General Motors has been the owner from the year 1989 to 2010. In the economic crisis of the USA, when GM was facing financial crisis, SAAB was sold off to Swedish Automobiles who is now again selling it because of bankruptcy. SAAB is well known for its well built cars and good technological know-how which it has developed over many decades. Indian Automobile Majors – Mahindra and Mahindra and Tata Motors seem to be interested to buy the SAAB to expand their portfolio. In past few years, Mahindra and Mahindra has acquired Ssangyong and Tata Motors has acquired the Jaguar and Land Rover which has expanded the Indian reach to global products and has helped Indian Auto industry benefit from the technology skills of the acquired companies.
