Hyundai launched the facelifted Elantra back in October last year. It got minor cosmetic upgrades, a couple of new features and BS6 compliant petrol engine. Now, reports suggest that Hyundai Elantra Diesel is also in its way and will hit the roads soon enough.
BS6 compliant Hyundai Elantra diesel is likely to be launched in the coming weeks. It will get its engine from Seltos, the 1.5 Litre four-cylinder motor. To note, this engine will also come on the new Creta and new Verna. A slightly detuned version of this engine comes on Venue and will further come on the new generation i20.

In competition to the Elantra, we have the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and Honda Civic. Due to poor sales and upcoming BS6 norms, Toyota has completely discontinued the Corolla. The production of the sedan has been stopped already. Amongst the other two, Octavia will also be discontinued towards the end of the month, with the new version coming by the end of this year.
