Along with the BS6 update, Mahindra has introduced some significant cosmetic changes on the ageing Bolero and now, it also complies with the latest crash-test norms.
The deadline for the BS6 emission norms is just around the corner and by now, almost all manufacturers have got their vehicles updated to comply with the stricter emission norms. Mahindra has also been steadily updating their vehicles to the BS6 standards. Last year, Mahindra announced that their oldest models on sale, the Bolero, has received BS6 certification for the Power Plus 1.5-litre diesel model.
Mahindra had also confirmed that the BS6 complaint Bolero will go on sale in early 2020. With less than a month away, Mahindra will be launching the BS6 Bolero is the coming weeks and now, we have the first images of the heavily updated BS6 Bolero. The SUV gets major styling tweaks on the front with an all-new grille, new headlamps, new bumpers and a slightly tweaked bonnet as well. The new SUV looks quite a bit more premium than before.
The headlamps on the new Bolero also feature black inserts and chrome bits but this update is more than just a cosmetic makeover. The Mahindra Bolero now also complies with the latest crash-test norms that were introduced late last year. The BS6 Mahindra Bolero is powered by a 1.5-litre three cylinder diesel D75 engine that delivers 71hp. In fact, this diesel engine will also feature on the refreshed TUV300 that will hit the showrooms soon.

Apart from a BS6 compliant engine and cosmetic updates, Mahindra will also update the variant nomenclature for the BS6-spec Bolero. In BS6 guise, the Bolero is expected to be sold in three variants – base-spec B4, the mid-spec B6 and the top-spec B6(O). Because of the BS6 update, the Bolero is likely see a bump in price by around Rs 50,000, depending on the variant.

Mahindra introduced the Bolero in India way back in the year 2000 and it has been a strong seller for the brand for about two decades now. In the period between April 2019 and January 2020, the company sold a total of 52,828 units of the Bolero – which works out to a monthly average of 5,289 units. Mahindra will also be updating other SUVs in its line-up like the Scorpio, Thar and XUV500 which are due a generation change soon.
