BMW has launched the latest 2020 X1 SUV in India, which gets cosmetic upgrades, a couple of feature additions and BS6 compliant engines.
BMW now brings in the latest version 202 X1 to the Indian market. The entry-level SUV from the brand now comes at a starting price of Rs 35.90 Lakhs. It is available in four variants which the top-spec going up to Rs 42.90 Lakhs.
As you can see, it gets slightly revised exterior and interiors. There are some new features added along with new BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. Here are the detailed variant wise prices of the X1:

In comparison to the pre-facelift X1, the new version has lost two variants but gets a new SportX petrol. Technically, the prices have just increased by Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000. However, now, you can get the X1 for nearly Rs 2.5 Lakhs cheaper.
Engine Changes
The 2020 BMW X1 gets a 2.0 Litre petrol and a 2.0 Litre diesel engine to choose from. The petrol motor produces 192 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic. The diesel engine develops 190 PS and 400 Nm of torque. This engine gets an 8-speed automatic.
The upgrade comes just in the form of BS6 compliant engines. The power figures are exactly the same that used to come on the earlier BS4 version. Even the gearbox options are kept the same. However, it now misses out on the AWD option.
Exterior Changes
Changes on the outside include a larger BMW kidney grille. There are new and sleeker LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and refreshed tail lamps. The front and rear bumpers are now more aggressive-looking along with larger air dams on the front bumper. Lastly, there’s slightly revised alloy wheels to complete its facelift look.
Interior Changes
Inside the cabin, there are just two changes done. The dashboard theme and colour is exactly the same. There’s a new refreshed digital instrument cluster and the new i-Drive infotainment system. The system gets a new user interface with some tweaks.
New Features
The new 2020 BMW X1 gets a bigger 8.8inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as the main feature highlight. However, its features list also includes climate control, panoramic sunroof, push-button start, Heads Up Display, electronic adjustment for the front seats, dual-zone climate control, Paddle Shifters and Drive Modes.
Safety features onboard include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Cornering Headlamps, rear parking sensors with a camera, tyre pressure monitor, VSM, Hill Assist and Descent Control and front and rear disc brakes.
Competition
BMW X1 will continue to rival the likes of Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA. The 2020 version of GLA was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 and will be launched by the end of this year. With Q3 and XC40, you now have a single petrol-engine option. No diesel engine.
