The Mercedes E-Class facelift was scheduled for its unveil at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show but now it will arrive at a later date with the event having been discontinued due to coronavirus.
Mercedes-Benz was just about to take the wraps of the 2020 E-Class facelift at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show but unfortunately, the event has been scrapped due to outbreak of the coronavirus. The E-Class is one of Mercedes’ most popular luxury cars and while we all were just at the verge of laying our eyes at the 2020 iteration of it, we will have to wait a little longer. But let’s see what the E-Class facelift is about anyway. Mercedes-Benz even teased us with an image ahead of its debut.
In a previous teaser image, Mercedes had let out that the 2020 E-Class facelift is going to be a plug-in hybrid vehicle. In this latest teaser, Mercedes reveals how the headlamps and the DRLs of the 2020 E-Class facelift is going to look like. If you know your Mercedes Benz cars you must have already noticed that the twin-brow LED DRLs have been substituted for a single, much sharper brow-line. The teaser also suggests that the tristar hood ornament could make a comeback.
From previous spy shots that we have seen of the Mercedes E-Class facelift, we know that the car is going to remain fairly identical in profile. However, the rear end gets redesigned tail lamps that are sleeker than before. Although Mercedes is yet to reveal the cabin of the 2020 E-Class, we expect it to be similar to the current model with the twin-screen layout.

In terms of features and equipment, the car will more or less carry over its equipment list with Merc’s MBUX infotainment system, connected car technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four-zone climate control, ventilated and heated seats, powered front seats as well as air suspension. Expected safety features include 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and a whole host of driver-assist systems.

The bigger news however with the E-Class facelift will be its new plug-in hybrid powertrain, the specifications of which haven’t been revealed yet. There will also be the regular petrol and diesel engine options. But will the new hybrid powertrain make it to India? There are good chances for the same to happen as Mercedes Benz could then take advantage of the country’s CAFE (corporate average fuel efficiency) regulations, which are set to get more stringent in the future. The E-Class is Mercedes’ most popular product in India. While Mercedes hasn’t announced a date for the unveil of the E-Class facelift now that the Geneva Motor Show has been cancelled. But sooner or later, we shall have the Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift.
