The deliveries of BS6 compliant Hyundai i20 Petrol has commenced across all dealerships in the country. The prices start at Rs 6.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Hyundai dealerships have started the deliveries of BS6 i20 Petrol variants now. The outgoing version of the hatch receives the compliant petrol motor. Its new BS6 Diesel engine will directly debut on the next-gen i20.
The prices of BS6 Hyundai i20 Petrol start off at Rs 6.49 Lakhs up to Rs 8.30 Lakhs (ex-showroom). That’s because a couple of variants have been removed from the lineup. The base-spec Era and CVT variants have been discontinued.
i20’s 1.2 Litre four-cylinder Kappa petrol engine gets BS6 compliance. The motor produces 83 PS and 116 Nm of peak torque. Now, it only comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. With the new generation i20 coming, everything is going to change.

The new i20 will sport three engine options – the same petrol engine, the 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol motor and a new 1.5 Litre diesel engine. The power figures of turbo engine will be similar to Nios Turbo, producing 100 BHP and 172 Nm of peak torque.
However, unlike Nios, the new i20 Turbo is expected to get a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed MT as options. The new diesel engine comes from Seltos, producing 100 BHP and around 200 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox options for the diesel engine will be revealed later.
Other than engine upgrades, the upgraded hatch will sport a plethora of segment-first features. There will be electric sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Blue Link Technology, Fully Digital Instrument Cluster, Wireless Charging and Cruise Control.

New i20 is expected to debut in the Indian market by the end of the first half of 2020. It will continue to rival the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Ford Freestyle. With the Turbo version incoming, it will be a direct competitor to the Polo GT TSI, which is getting a new and more powerful engine.
