With the BS6 update, Ford has introduced a new 2.0L diesel engine with a 10-speed automatic gearbox on the Endeavour and some additional features as well. It is expected to cost about Rs 40 lakhs (on-road).
We recently reported to you about the Ford Endeavour getting a new BS6 2.0L diesel engine as part of its BS6 update. Well, we have now come to know that Ford will be officially launching the BS6 Endeavour in India towards the end of this month. Ford dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings. In fact, according to a report by Zigwheels, the BS6 Endeavour is expected to be cost about Rs. 40 lakhs (on-road).
The biggest change for the BS6 Endeavour will be under the hood. As we had already reported before, the 2.2 liter diesel and the 3.2 liter diesel will be discontinued on the Endeavour as they will not be updated to meet the BS6 norms. Instead, Ford will be offering a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine putting out 170PS of power and 420Nm of torque. We expect Ford to offer this engine with both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.
Another big change with the BS6 Endeavour is that it will get a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. That’s the first time any vehicle in India has been offered with as many as 10 gears. However, when the new 2.0L diesel engine is compared with the outgoing 2.2L and 3.2L diesel engines, it actually slots in between these two outgoing engines.

The 3.2L diesel engine produced 200PS of power and 470Nm of peak torque. It came mated to only a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.2L diesel engine produced 160PS of power and 385Nm of peak torque. This engine was either mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. While the new engine has better output than the 2.2L diesel engine, it still falls short of power and torque in front of the larger 3.2L five-cylinder engine. This new engine offers a fair balance between the outgoing engines.

Apart from a new engine and gearbox combination, the BS6 Ford Endeavour also gets new LED headlamps and Ford Pass connected car technology. The latter will allow you to remotely start the car, lock and unlock the doors as well as operate select features on your Endeavour. The BS6-compliant Ford Endeavour will renew its rivalry with the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and upcoming MG Gloster.
