Hero has unveiled its new upcoming Xtreme 160R, the urban naked street motorcycle. It will be launched in the market by March 2020.
Hero has discontinued the Xtreme Sports from the sporty commuter segment. It has entered again in the 160cc segment with the new Hero Xtreme 160R. The upcoming bike has been unveiled with its launch set to happen in March.
Hero Xtreme 160R is an urban naked street motorcycle, based on the Xtreme 1.R concept. Its design is somewhat different from the Xtreme 200R, probably more aggressive. Its muscular fuel tank is an eye-catching highlight.
It is powered by a 160cc air-cooled single-cylinder FI engine. The motor produces 15 BHP and 14 Nm of peak torque. The 160R can sprint from 0-60 km/hr in just 4.7 seconds. That with a kerb weight of 138 kgs makes it one of the quickest and lightest motorcycles in segment.

For suspension, it gets 37mm SHOWA forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both the ends with a single-channel ABS as standard. Further, it gets 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
Features onboard will include full LED headlamps, petal-type disc brake, a fully digital instrument console, single step-up seat and ABS. It is expected to be priced aggressively in the Rs 70,000 – 80,000 range, just like the Xtreme 200R.
The competitors for 160R will include TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Honda X Blade, Suzuki Gixxer 155 and Yamaha FZ V3. This particular space is very popular because they offer just the right power and style that a buyer needs, all in just about 1.2 Lakhs.
