After unveiling the Vitara Brezza facelift petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki will be launching the sub-compact SUV in India on February 15.
Maruti Suzuki unveiled the 2020 Vitara Brezza facelift with a new petrol engine at the 2020 Auto Expo. Now, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the launch date of the Vitara Brezza facelift Petrol to be on February 15, 2020. The Vitara Brezza facelift features several cosmetic changes both on the inside and the outside but the biggest update is that the new petrol engine that replaces the current diesel engine. Lets look at the new Vitara Brezza in a little more detail.
The Vitara Brezza facelift gets a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine replaces the 1.3-litre diesel powerplant. This K15B petrol engine is also seen doing duty in the Ertiga and the Ciaz in India. The engine is good for producing 105 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic as an option on the higher variants. To keep costs on check, Maruti Suzuki will be offering the Smart-Hybrid fuel-saving technology only on the petrol automatic variants but not on the variants equipped with a manual gearbox.
The facelifted Vitara Brezza gets plenty of styling upgrades too. The face seems new with a slightly wider chin – clearly split in two sections. There are new larger fog lamp housing and the turn indicators have now been moved up to the main headlamp cluster. Although the headlamp cluster remains identical in its shape, it gets new chrome inserts on the top and new LED DRLs at the bottom with dual LED projector headlamps.
The refreshed SUV will also get faux skid plates for its front and rear bumpers, all-black alloy-wheels for mid-spec variants, and diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels for the top-spec ZXI+ trim. The top-spec trim also comes LED fog lamps. At the rear, the tail lamp gets new LED elements, giving the SUV quite a premium look.
The Vitara Brezza facelift will also get new exterior paint-shade combination with dual-tone colors on offer as well. Inside the cabin, there’s a new auto dimming IRVM and a leather wrapped steering wheel. It also gains automatic rain sensing wipers and even cruise control. The touchscreen infotainment has also be upgraded with the latest software, similar to what comes on its competitors. The new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system will also double as a display for the reverse camera.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol will be priced a little lower than its outgoing diesel counterpart. The price difference wouldn’t be very vast though, thanks to the BS6 upgrade to the 1.5 liter petrol engine. However, the SUV will miss out on excise duty benefits for petrol vehicles with an engine capacity of less than 1.2 litres.

The updated petrol compact SUV will face some stiff competition when its launched later this week. It will rival the likes of the heavily updated Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV that will launch later this year. And before you ask, there’s no plan of the Vitara Brezza with a diesel engine in the future as of yet.
