Skoda showcased the Rapid Matte Concept at the Auto Expo 2020, which came with the new 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol TSI engine onboard.
Skoda and Volkswagen are going to get a major change in their engine options. The 1.0 Litre MPI, 1.6 Litre petrol and the 1.2 Litre turbo petrol will be discontinued soon. That’s beside the diesel engines which will also go down the dump.
Skoda has showcased the Rapid Matte Concept at the Auto Expo 2020, which gets the new turbo petrol motor. Skoda is going to launch the showcased concept sometime this year, but the engine will come on the sedan before April 2020.
The technical specifications of the Skoda Rapid Turbo Petrol will be revealed later. It will get a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The motor should be able to produce around 120 PS worth of power.

This engine will also come on the Volkswagen Vento and the Polo soon. All of them will get a 5-speed manual gearbox along with the option of a 7-speed DSG gearbox. For Polo, the lower variants could get a slightly detuned version of it as well.
Skoda Rapid Matte Concept further gets some cosmetic upgrades like Matte Grey paint job, red inserts on ORVMs, door panels, boot lip and spoiler and gloss black alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, there’s an all-black interior theme and no other change.
In the international markets, Skoda is getting a generation update with new engines, major cosmetic tweaks and a revised platform. However, in India, the new version would not come in the near future, but there might be a facelift incoming.

At the Skoda Pavillion, we also saw the Skoda Karoq, its newly unveiled Vision SUV concept, new Octavia vRS and Kodiaq TSI. Karoq will compete against Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen T-ROC and Jeep Compass in the 20 Lakhs Plus price range.
