Of the handful of real SUVs on the Indian roads, the one having the best SUV character is the Toyota Land Cruiser. Recently there was news about the 2012 model’s brochure getting leaked and it definitely created a stir. Now we have the pictures of the 2012 Land Cruiser that has been given a couple of modifications on the exterior and interior as well.
There is not much to say about the car as Toyota has only introduced a small number of changes which are as follows:
- On the outside the car now has a new boxy yet sportier front bumper with new fog lamps
- New headlights with LED strips
- New front grille with chrome accents
- Slightly revamped Taillights
- Turn indicators integrated into ORVMs
- New alloy wheels in both 18” and 20’”(as per the requirement)

On the interiors the car now gets:
- A new improved TFT display screen
- New colours
- New upholstery materials
On the technical end the car gets some changes too. The most interesting feature that has been introduced is the Multi-Terrain Select System that varies the traction control and brake settings in order to achieve best possible handling characteristics on different terrains. Modes include rock, rock & dirt, mogul, loose rock and mud & sand.

Another feature added into the Land Cruiser is a turn assist sort of feature that decreases the turning radius of the SUV when maneuvering at low speeds.
Under the hood the car still features the same old 4.6 Litre V8 engine that generates 318 BHP @ 5600 RPM of max power and 460 Nm @ 3400 RPM of peak torque. The engine is coupled with an automatic transmission and an all wheel drive system.
