Nissan today announced a brand new compact SUV for India and also shared a teaser image, hinting at its design. It will launched around September 2020.
Nissan India announced today that they are going to bring a brand new compact SUV to the Indian market. They also shared the first teaser image of this upcoming SUV at an event in New Delhi, today. It’s going to be a sub-four meter SUV and it will be launched in India around September 2020. It will rival the likes of the updated Tata Nexon, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza petrol, Mahindra’s XUV300, the Hyundai Venue and the Ford EcoSport.
As can be seen in the teaser image, the new Nissan compact SUV will get a crossover-ish design, much like the Kicks, rather than a more upright design as seen on the Brezza and the Venue. The SUV will also get a floating roof design and dual-tone paint options. You can also expect some design cues from Nissan’s newest crossover in the international market, the Juke, to feature on this new SUV for India.
Interestingly, this SUV will be sharing its underpinnings with the upcoming Renault HBC SUV. The Renault HBC will be based on the CMF-A platform (which also underpins the Renault Triber) and that too is scheduled to be launched in late 2020. We expect this SUV to be powered by a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which will come mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT. Nissan will not offer a diesel engine with this SUV. ‘
Nissan hasn’t shared much details about this upcoming SUV but we expect it will share a few features and creature comforts from other Nissan cars and we also expect it to come with connected car technology.
