The 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will be showcased at the Auto Expo with a marlet launch around April 2020. It comes with plenty of styling updates and new engines as well.
Hyundai has confirmed that they will be unveiling the heavily updated Verna sedan at the 2020 Auto Expo. Hyundai will have quite an eventful stand at this Auto Expo with the next-gen Creta, the facelifted Tuscon and also the facelifted Verna. The Hyundai Verna facelift was first shown at the Chengdu Motor show in China, last year in September.
The Hyundai Verna facelift gets massive design changes over its predecessor. It gets a sharp cascading grille upfront which is now larger than before and uses generous amount of chrome. The design has been borrowed from its elder sibling, Hyundai Elantra and Sonata. Also, the sedan receives a refreshed headlamp cluster along with LED DRLs with crystal-effect inserts and chrome outlines demarcating three sections – the projector headlamp, the parking lamp and the turn indicator. The bumper are also new with satin grey bits and black plastic. The bigger chrome slats in the grille house the Hyundai’s logo and the facelifted version adds a bit of drama to the front.
The rear end of the Verna facelift has also been completely redesigned. The tail lights are completely new triangular units that are connected to each other by a LED strip that runs along the boot lid. The boot lid itself is also completely new and gets a new character line. The license plate still sits on the boot lid but has been positioned slightly below. The rear bumper also gets rectangular, vertically placed reflectors and a dual-tone faux-diffuser, replete with a satin aluminium trim. There are new diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels as well.
This new Verna facelift has also grown by 25mm from its predecessor, thanks to all the new styling elements. We expect the India-spec model to be largely similar to the China-spec model in terms of design and dimensions. On the interiors, the biggest update to the new Verna is the inclusion of a new all-digital instrument cluster. Hyundai will also equip the Verna with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with better interface than the current model’s 7.0-inch unit. The Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech will also be included on the updated Verna.

Under the hood, the Verna facelift will be powered by new 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engines. These engines will of course be BS6 compliant and they will also do duty on the next-gen Creta and even the refreshed Elantra. In fact, its the same engine that also does duty on the Kia Seltos. The new 1.5-litre diesel engine on the refreshed Verna will see its output go down from 128hp to 115hp, while the torque figure too will downgrade from 260Nm to 250Nm. As for the new 1.5 liter petrol engine, its packaged to take on a 48V mild-hybrid system but it remains to be seen if Hyundai offers that system in India with the Verna facelift even as an option.

Hyundai will only showcase the Verna facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo and its expected to hit showrooms sometime around April 2020. In fact, the all-new Honda City is also expected to arrive in India at around the same time. The new model will also rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and the recently-updated Toyota Yaris.
