Hyundai Aura is the newest sub-4-metre sedan in town. It is based on the Xcent and will also replace it in the coming months. As the name goes, Aura gets a complete makeover to make it look like a sportier affair. It will be launched on January 22 and that’s when the prices will be revealed. The bookings are yet to commence officially. Here, we have compared the Hyundai Aura vs Maruti Suzuki Dzire, one of the leaders in the segment.

Both, the Dzire and the Aura, get a similar 1.2 liter, four cylinder petrol engine which also produce relatively the same outputs in terms of power and torque. Also, both cars get a similar gearbox option of an AMT automatic and a manual gearbox as well. And yes, as should be the norm, both engines are BS-6 compliant as well.
However, the Aura has quite an edge over the Dzire with its other petrol engine. That’s a 1.0 liter turbo-petrol engine which produce quite some more power and torque at 100 bhp and 172 nm. This engine will come paired only to a 5-speed manual gearbox. That should give the Aura quite an exciting edge.

The Aura diesel will run on a 1.2 Litre U2 CRDi diesel engine, that puts out 75 BHP and 190 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire on the other hand uses a larger 1.3 liter diesel engine but produces just the same outputs as the one in the Aura. But wait, Maruti will discontinue its diesel engines come BS-6 norms, and the Dzire diesel would eventually seize to exist. Perhaps, this is the best time to buy a Maruti Suzuzki Dzire Diesel, if you want your hands on one.

The fuel tank capacity of the Aura is exactly similar to that of the Dzire. The official mileage figures of Aura are not revealed yet, but we expect the petrol engine to offer 17 kmpl. Its diesel engine is expected to offer 22 kmpl. In comparison to that, Dzire petrol offers 21 kmpl. The Dzire diesel dolls out 27.4 kmpl. Maruti Suzuki of course has to be given the hand for better mileage.

The length of the Aura and Dzire are the same. However, the Dzire is quite a bit wider but only shorter only by 5mm. Both cars have an identical wheelbase of 2450mm. The boot capacity of the Aura is also slightly better than that of Dzire.

The Hyundai Aura is expected to be on the pricier side in its segment. It comes with tons of features, the only turbo-petrol engine in the competition and a BS-6 complaint diesel, all of which comes at a cost. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire on the other hand sits right in the middle of the competition in terms of pricing. It has also already got its BS-6 update with its petrol engine but the diesel engine will be discontinued from the Dzire as it will not see the BS-6 update.
