The KTM 790 Adventure uses the same 799cc parallel-twin engine from the Duke 790 but gets a lesser state of tune and it will be launched in India in 2020.
The 2019 iteration of the India Bike Week say many exciting motorcycles and lots of fun. KTM, being one of the title sponsors, had the most amount of action up their sleeve. KTM had showcased their entire 2020 motorcycle line-up for India but the biggest highlight of them all has to be the new 790 Adventure. KTM showcased the 790 Adventure at the IBW 2019 and it is scheduled for a launch in India sometime in 2020.
Although the KTM 790 Adventure uses the same 799cc, parallel-twin engine from the 790 Duke, it comes in a different state of tune. In the 790 Adventure, the engine produces 94hp and 88Nm of torque, down from the 790 Duke’s 105hp and 87Nm of torque. Also, like we have seen in other KTM models, the 790 Adventure comes in two variants as well – a standard variant and a higher-spec ‘R’ variant.
Both the variants use the same engine in the same state of tune but the difference lies in their suspension setup. The 790 Adventure R uses a wider, 48mm WP XPLOR front fork with a massive 240mm suspension travel, while the standard variant features a 43mm USD fork. Other than that, both variants come equipped with 21-inch front wheels and identical braking hardware as well. The 790 Adventures get twin 320mm discs with radially-mounted four-piston calipers and a 260mm disc at the rear.

To give you some more numbers, the KTM 790 Adventure has a dry weight of 189 kg and its fuel tank has a capacity of 20 liters. However, the seat height is pretty high at 850mm but the motorcycle gets an impressive ground clearance of 233 mm. KTM is expected to bring the 790 Adventure in India via the CKD route, that too with low levels of localization. The case is just similar to the Duke 790.

Although KTM hasn’t said a word about the pricing of this motorcycle in India, we can take a fair guess at it. The KTM Duke 790 is priced at Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). Meanwhile, in the UK, there’s a price difference of 25% between the Duke 790 and the 790 Adventure. If KTM keeps the price difference similar in India as well, then the motorcycle is expected to cost around Rs 10.8 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the base 790 Adventure will make its way to the Indian market, it remains to be seen whether the higher-spec 790 Adventure R will follow suit.
