The BS-6 compliant Mahindra XUV300 petrol has its price about Rs 20,000 more than their BS4 counterparts and the torque has gone down by 10 Nm.
Mahindra has launched the BS-6 compliant petrol version of their compact SUV, the XUV300 for a starting price of Rs. 8.30 lakhs for the base W4 variant. It goes all the way up to Rs. 11.94 lakhs for the top-spec W8(O) variant, all prices ex-showroom pan-India. The BS6-compliant models costs about Rs 20,000 more than their BS4 counterparts.
Commenting on the launch Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are delighted to launch our first BS6 vehicle. It is a milestone in our BS6 transition journey. Despite tight timelines, we, along with our suppliers, have met the challenging requirements of these tighter emission norms, much ahead of the stipulated timeline. We will progressively upgrade our entire range with cleaner emissions technology.”
Mahindra had already revealed the technical specifications of this engine earlier this year. The BS6-compliant 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit will continue to make 110 bhp but the torque has been reduced to 190 Nm from the previous 200 Nm of the BS-4 spec car. Mahindra had also revealed details of the remainder of its BS6-compliant range of petrol and diesel engines earlier in the year.

The Mahindra XUV300 continues with its rivalry against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The price of the BS-6 spec XUV300 hasn’t gone up by a huge margin and that will speak well in terms of volumes of the car. Expect Mahindra to launch more BS6 compliant iterations of its models in the coming months.
