Honda has unveiled the new-generation City sedan which will come in four variants, the top-end being a new RS variant. How is it different from the rest?
The new-generation Honda City was recently unveiled in Thailand, which will go for sale there next month. In India, we will be getting the new City sometime after mid-2020 and not at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The new sedan is now available in four variants – S, V, SV and RS. We know about the first three variants but the top-end RS variant is somewhat different from those. We are not sure if it might come to India but just to spice up the things, Honda might actually consider.
Starting, the new Honda City gets a 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol i-VTEC engine, that produces 122 BHP and 170 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a CVT gearbox as standard. That’s the only engine offered in the Thai-spec City. Soon, it will also get a new 1.5 Litre mild-hybrid engine.

Differences between the new Honda City RS and regular variants is related to styling. The RS variant is available in an exclusive Ignite Red colour option. The front grille gets a glossy black treatment instead of the chrome detailing on the other variants. Also, you can see the RS badging on the grille.
Further, the City RS gets different LED headlamps, diamond-cut dual-tone alloys, glossy-black ORVMs, glossy-black rear spoiler and different LED tail lamps. These are all the changes that you get on the outside.
Inside the cabin, you get all-black leather upholstery with red stitching and all-black dashboard design. With these bits, the City RS looks sportier than ever. Of course, the new City is also sportier than the outgoing version.

In India, the new City will also get the BS-6 versions of its existing 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines. However, the mild-hybrid technology will also come on the India-spec new generation Honda City.
