After stalling enthusiasts for over a year and a half, KTM is finally bringing its affordable adventure motorcycle. The 390 Adventure has been recently unveiled at the EICMA 2019 and will be seen at the India Bike Week as well.
However, that’s not it. Regular readers might know that KTM is also launching the Adventure 250 in India, which will be more affordable than 390. However, the 390 ADV might be launched prior to the 250cc ADV. So, here we pit the KTM 250 Adventure Vs KTM 390 Adventure for your better understanding:

The 250 Adventure is based on the Duke 250 and so is the 390 Adventure on the Duke 390. We expect the 250 to be priced around Rs 2.3 Lakhs, demanding around 50,000 more than the Duke. The 390 Adventure is expected to go for around Rs 3 Lakhs, costlier than the Duke by nearly Rs 55,000.
The 250 Adventure will go against the likes of Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is priced around Rs 1.9 Lakhs. The 390 Adventure will find itself between the likes of BMW G 310 GS and Kawasaki Versys-X 300.

The 250 Adventure uses a 249cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, that produces 30 BHP and 24 Nm of peak torque. The 390 ADV uses a 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, gutting out 43 BHP and 37 Nm of torque. In comparison to their Duke counterparts, the power figures remain the same with the same engine tuning as well.
Both the motorcycles come mated to a six-speed gearbox, but the 390 Adventure also gets a Quickshifter in the global-spec. We are not sure if KTM will offer the same in the India-spec model.

The suspension setup remains exactly the same on both of them. At the front, 43mm inverted telescopic forks and WP-sourced monoshock at the back are used. Braking is handled by front and rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS. Further, both of them get the SuperMoto mode which disengages ABS and traction control for a better off-roading experience. Both of them use 19-inch tires at the front and 17-inchers at the back.

As such, there is no difference in styling. Both the motorcycles look identical, leaving the headlamp style aside. Both of them get alloy wheels, the exposed engine styling and the aggressive front cowl. However, both of them might get different colour options onboard. The funky graphics on the side fenders still remains similar to what offered on other KTM bikes.
