These are the most awaited turbo petrol cars that are finally going to be launched in 2020, many of them will be launching very soon.
Manufacturers are developing turbocharged petrol engines now because many buyers are now looking over at the fun to drive part as well. Most of them are bringing in small turbo petrol engines for many cars because, they are easier to upgrade to emission norms and are still fuel-efficient, enough.
A lot of turbo petrol cars have come up in 2019 and by next year, there will be a lot more. So, here’s a list of the top eight that we know, people are eagerly waiting for and will buy it as soon as it is launched. Here you go:
Hyundai i20 Turbo
Hyundai is going to launch the new generation i20 with a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The engine will be taken from Aura and Grand i10 Nios and is actually a detuned version of Venue’s 120 BHP engine. It will surely be mated to a 6-speed MT but there are chances of it getting a 7-speed DCT as well.

- Power Figures – 100 BHP / 172 Nm
- Launch Period – August-September 2020
Renault Duster Turbo
Now that its diesel engine has been discontinued, Duster is about to get a big replacement. At the Auto Expo 2020, it was showcased with a 1.3 Litre turbo-petrol engine with very high power figures. That will make it more powerful than MG Hector, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

- Launch Period – May-June 2020

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz
At the Expo, Mahindra showcased the more powerful and performance focused version of the XUV300. Dubbed at Sportz, it gets the same 1.2 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol. However, the engine gets TGD-I technology which generates more power. That makes it the most powerful in the class.

- Power Figures – 130 BHP / 230 Nm
- Launch Period – May 2020
Ford Ecosport Turbo Petrol
Now that Ford and Mahindra have come together, both will share their engines, platforms and other technologies. So, the engine of XUV300 Sportz will later also come on the EcoSport. The new engine will replace the blank space left by the much loved EcoBoost engine. Actually, it was one of the earliest and most popular turbo engines in India.

- Power Figures – 130- BHP / 230 Nm
- Launch Period – December 2020
Renault Triber Turbo
This is not the kind of the engine you were waiting for. The purpose of Triber with a turbo petrol car is different. It’s just for more power than its 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo unit. Many buyers and interested buyers have shown interest and are also suggesting for the turbo unit.

- Power Figures – 100 BHP / 172 Nm
- Launch Period – October-November 2020
Tata Altroz
Now, we don’t know if this will happen, but there are reports still suggesting that it might happen in near future. Before the Tata-JTP fallout, both were said to be working on Altroz JTP, packed with Nexon’s engine. This would make it even more powerful than the Polo.

- Launch Period – 2021
Tata Harrier
Harrier will get a 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol engine towards the end of this month. Reports suggest that it will get a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that Tata is working on. It probably won’t be that good to drive but the availability of a petrol engine will attract more buyers.
