Here is a look at the upcoming electric cars from Tata and Mahindra, the two homegrown carmakers that have been quite active in the world of EVs
It’s well-known that electric cars are the future and early adoption of electric cars becomes all the more important for Indian market as the pollution levels and the fuel prices have witnessed an exponential rise in the last few years. However, even today barring the premium products from MG and Hyundai, only Tata and Mahindra have provided electric car options in the affordable range. The good news is that there are at least 5 upcoming electric cars from Tata and Mahindra in 2022. Mahindra eKUV100
The Mahindra eKUV100 has been in development for several years now and should finally launch this year. While the KUV100 couldn’t really attract many buyers, its electric sibling might do the trick for Mahindra with its low price. It will come with a 15.9 kWh battery pack and offer a peak range of 140 km.

Mahindra eXUV300
The electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 is also headed to the market and will be locking horns with Nexon EV and ZS EV. It will be built on the carmaker’s Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform, and will be sold in two variants. It will have a range of 300 km from a 60kWh battery pack that will propel a 150kW electric motor.
Tata Tiago EV
The Tata Tiago CNG is hours away from its launch but there’s another engine variant that will be launched later this year. The electric version will take on the Maruti WagonR EV as well as the Mahindra eKUV100 and should launch in the second-half of the ongoing calendar year. Visually, it will look almost exactly like the ICE sibling but will offer a range of 213 km from its 21.5 kWh battery pack.
Tata Altroz EV
Tata’s EV onslaught won’t end with the Tiago EV. The company is also planning to launch an electric version of the Altroz. The car was first showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and then at the 2020 Auto Expo in India. It will offer a range of up to 300 km and could be positioned between the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV.

Tata Punch EV
The recently launched Tata Punch has been off to a pretty solid start with many car buyers getting attracted with its Harrier-like looks, SUV traits and a spacious cabin. The Punch shares its ALFA platform with the Altroz and like the hatchback sibling, will be offering a range of up to 300 km.
