Honda has launched the Elevate mid-size SUV in our market as we take a look at the 5 segment-best features and 5 features it doesn’t offer. The prices start at Rs 10.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 15.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Elevate is Honda’s ticket into the highly popular and lucrative mid-size SUV segment. Currently, the Korean Creta and Seltos dominate the segment. However, there are products from almost every major car marque in this segment. This makes things quite interesting. There is a lot of market share divided among the carmakers apart from Hyundai and Kia. Honda wants to take a dig at that with the aim of also denting these Korean giants’ sales. Let us take a look at the details of the features on offer on the Elevate.

5 Segment-Best Features of Honda Elevate
- Honda Sensing ADAS – Honda is offering Level 2 ADAS active safety features on the Elevate. This aims at enhancing the active safety of the passengers. This includes features like 6 Airbags, LaneWatch™ Camera, Vehicle Stability Assist with Electronic Stability & Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Stop Signal, Multi-Angle Rear-view Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, ISOFIX compatible Rear Side Seats with Lower Anchorages & Top Tether. SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, VW Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq don’t have this feature.
- Highest Ground Clearance – Honda Elevate boasts a high ground clearance of 220 mm. This is the maximum in the segment. In Indian road conditions, having a high ground clearance is massive. You don’t have to worry about scratching the underbelly of your car.
- Most Powerful Naturally Aspirated Engine – The Elevate borrows the popular and powerful engine from the City sedan. It offers 121 PS and 145 Nm of peak power and torque. This is the highest when comparing the naturally aspirated units of the rivals and even the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines of the Kushaq and Taigun.
- Largest Boot Space – Elevate has a boot space of 458 litres. This is the largest in the segment. It ensures that you can carry a large amount of luggage for those long trips with your family. This enhances the practicality a lot.
- 10.25-inch HD Infotainment Display – Finally, it also has a large free-floating 10.25-inch infotainment In-Plane Switching (IPS), High Definition (HD) resolution LCD display audio, wireless charging and connectivity features.

5 Features Honda Elevate Misses
- Panoramic Sunroof – The Elevate comes with a single-pane electric sunroof. Many other SUVs in this segment offer the larger panoramic sunroof including Hyundai Creta and the new Kia Seltos.
- 360-Degree Camera – Even though the Elevate gets the Honda Sensing ADAS features, the 360-degree camera is missing. That is quite sad since it ensures better manoeuvrability of the large SUV in tight spaces.
- Powered Driver Seat – You would expect electrically adjustable and powered front seats in an SUV of this category. However, Honda has given it a miss in the Elevate.
- Front Parking Sensors – When you get ADAS functions, you would expect to also get the front parking sensors. But that is not the case. These could come in handy during parking in tight spots.
- Ventilated Front Seats – Finally, the Elevate also misses out on ventilated front seats. While this is strictly a convenience feature, a lot of its rivals offer this function. In a country like India with extremely hot weather conditions in most parts, having ventilated front seats would have been really desirable.

Specs
Honda Elevate borrows the powertrain option from the City. This means that there is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC DOHC naturally aspirated petrol engine which generates a decent 121 PS and 145 Nm of peak power and torque. Complimenting this engine is either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-step CVT automatic gearbox. The manual gearbox offers a decent mileage of 15.31 km/l, while the CVT is more efficient at 16.92 km/l. This engine is E20 compatible which means it could run on petrol with a 20% Ethanol blend. The prices range from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
