Bigger Touchscreen
The first improvement over the existing model will be the availability of a new and bigger touchscreen infotainment display. If there is one thing that looks outdated in the current XUV300, it is its infotainment unit. But that is about to change now. The official teasers of the XUV 3XO reveal a huge free-standing touchscreen in the middle of the centre console. That will replace the slightly sluggish unit on the current XUV300. Note that it is a huge feature which a lot of modern buyers prefer. It will definitely add to the charm of the compact SUV.

Panoramic Sunroof
The love of Indian car buyers for sunroofs is no secret to anyone. For some reason, the Indian market is obsessed with having sunroofs in their cars. That might seem counter-intuitive since India is largely a hot country with extreme weather conditions. Still, there is an aspirational value offered by the sunroof. It, apparently, represents luxury and opulence. Hence, people love to have cars with sunroofs. Recognizing this trend, many carmakers have started offering sunroofs in the lower variants of their cars too. But the XUV3XO will be the first SUV in its segment to feature a large Panoramic Sunroof. It extends to the rear section of the roof.

Ventilated Front Seats
The Indian automobile marque loves to push the envelope when it comes to offering convenience features. Note that the XUV300 was the first vehicle in its segment to get 7 airbags initially. Later on, it was reduced to 6. Hence, Mahindra is not new to the game of ‘segment-first features’. In the upcoming XUV 3XO, we will also get to see ventilated seats. That is a huge boon for occupants in extreme summer conditions. This was a feature reserved for some of the most luxurious automobiles on the planet up until a few years ago.
Digital Driver’s Instrument Cluster
Apart from the new digital infotainment display, the new XUV 3XO will also boast a digital driver’s instrument cluster. It highlights the modernity associated with the compact SUV. This will help give out key details to the driver with regard to various vehicle parameters. It is a sign of the latest vehicles which have easy-to-read displays for the driver. This includes trip information, driving details, navigation and more.
Wireless Smartphone Charging
Finally, the Mahindra XUV 3XO will also possess a wireless smartphone charging capability to the users. Above a certain segment, most modern cars come with this feature. It is great for people who have smartphones capable of charging wirelessly. It reduces the hassle associated with carrying wires in the car and having them there during the driving. This also reduces the stress of charging the phones from home as they can easily juice up during driving.

Specs
One area which will likely remain unchanged is what lies under the hood. That is not necessarily a bad thing since it gets the most powerful engine in the segment already. There is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol direct injection engine which outputs a colossal 130 hp and 230 Nm of peak power and torque. There’s also a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which makes a decent 110 hp and 200 Nm of peak power and torque. Finally, the SUV also offers a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of either a 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox at the moment. We shall see if both turbo petrol options make it to the new SUV.
Author’s Note
Mahindra has evidently worked a lot on the upcoming XUV 3XO. It is hard to make an already feature-rich vehicle more enticing for the buyers. We shall also need to consider the price range. Currently, it retails between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 14.76 lakh, ex-showroom. It is possible that the updated model can have a price point of over Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom for the top model. That is a lot of money for a compact SUV. Still, it will be interesting to see how well the potential buyers embrace the new vehicle. The launch will take place in the coming days.
