The month of August is slated to be mega-exciting for potential car buyers as there are 5 new vehicles about to make their entry into our market.
In this post, we shall discuss the 5 new cars that are about to launch in India in August 2024. It is clear that the next month will be very exciting for potential customers and car enthusiasts alike. We will experience a wide range of new models making their entry into the already fierce Indian market. The cars range from new products to generational updates. For instance, the massively aniticipate 5-door iteration of the Mahindra Thar will enhance the practicality over the regular Thar. On the other hand, the Tata CURVV will be a new coupe SUV which will be available petrol, diesel and electric engine options. Let us dive into the details of this case here.
5 New Cars To Launch in August 2024
Citroen Basalt
Let us commence this list with the Citroen Basalt. Basalt is a coupe SUV which will be the first mass-market product with this body type. It will launch on August 4. This SUV will be based on the heavily localized CMP platform which also underpins the C3 Aircross. In fact, most of its elements, including the powertrain will come from the C3 Aircross. Hence, we can expect the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill churning out a decent 110 PS and 205 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine could pair with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The main design highlighting on the exterior will be the sloping roofline toward the rear. Also, the cabin will borrow amenities from the C3 Aircross. The sales of Citroen SUVs have not been all that exciting. Perhaps, the Basalt could change that due to its unique road presence.

Tata CURVV
The next product on this list of the 5 new cars about to launch in India in August 2024 is the Tata CURVV. Again, it will don the coupe SUV appearance. We will see the launch of the Tata CURVV EV on August 7 and the ICE counterparts will follow in soon. CURVV has been showcased by the Indian auto giant on multiple occasions. It will have a striking modern appearance along with a sloping roofline. On the inside, the CURVV will offer the latest tech, connectivity and convenience functionalities to pamper the consumers. In terms of the powertrains, the CURVV will most likely borrow the mills from the Nexon and Nexon EV. It will be positioned between the Nexon and Harrier in our market. The main attraction is the availability of electric, petrol and diesel options. I expect the prices to start from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh for the ICE and Rs 17 lakh to Rs 23 lakh, ex-showroom for the EV. It will be one of the few products which is available with so many powertrains. This makes sure that the customers get what they want.

Mahindra Thar Roxx (5-door)
Then we have the Mahindra Thar Roxx (5-door) on this list as well. The Thar 5-door has been undergoing testing for a long time now. It will be based on the Scorpio N which will enable it to have a longer wheelbase. As a result, the interior space and the boot capacity will see a significant bump. Hence, the practicality of the regular Thar will be greatly enhanced. Apart from that, there will be many modern amenities including a panoramic sunroof, large touchscreen infotainment display, new grille, 360-degree camera, etc. In terms of the specifications, the 5-door Thar will offer incredible off-roading capabilities, thanks to the sophisticated 4×4 drivetrain. There will be 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine options. The launch will take place on August 15 and the prices could range from Rs 17 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. However, the enhanced interior space and the addition of new features will be the prime attractions of the new Thar Roxx 5-door.

Nissan X-Trail
Nissan X-Trail is the next vehicle on this list of new cars which will launch in India in August 2024. It will be a niche product and will be on sale as a CBU car. In fact, only a limited number (150) of X-Trail SUVs will be allotted for our market. The aim is to expand the portfolio and test the waters with this nameplate, which was already quite popular in India back around 2010. This SUV carries a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine which is good for a decent 163 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. There will be a CVT automatic gearbox with this which will power just 2 wheels. The launch is slated for the coming days and the prices could commence from over Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom. Interestingly, this puts it in the segment of the likes of the Jeep Meridian. I am not sure if people would be as excited about such a hefty price tag.

Maruti Dzire
Finally, we will most likely also see the launch of the much-anticipated Maruti Dzire by the end of August 2024. It will share its powertrain with the new fourth-generation Swift. Hence, it will have the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E engine good for a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine will come with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The mileage figures in both trims will be around 25 km/l. The expected prices are between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. At a later stage, we might even witness the CNG trim. Apart from that, it will offer 6 airbags as standard along with tons of modern amenities to pamper the occupants. Perhaps, this will even have a positive impact on the safety ratings of the compact sedan. These are all the new cars about to launch in India. We shall have detailed reviews and posts of each other these vehicles as more details emerge.
