Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO compact SUV which bears tons of segment-first amenities to woo the customers.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO borrows tons of features from its larger sibling, the XUV700. The Indian automaker wants to stand out from the competition in this highly crowded market segment. Hence, it is attempting to offer something unique to the customers. This includes things like a striking exterior, high safety, the most powerful engine in the segment and tons of segment-first connectivity and convenience features. For this post, let’s see which aspects the new XUV 3XO borrows from its elder sibling.

5 Features Mahindra XUV 3XO Borrows From XUV700
Panoramic Sunroof (Skyroof)
Let us commence this list with the first-in-segment panoramic sunroof. That, in itself, will be a huge pull for a whole lot of potential buyers in our sunroof-obsessed nation. We know just how much people love sunroofs in India. To have the large panoramic sunroof in a compact SUV was unheard of until this new XUV 3XO came along. Note that hanging out of the sunroof of a moving car is perilous, as well as illegal. Make sure to use it only when the car is parked.
Level 2 ADAS
Yet another segment-first feature on the new XUV 3XO is the Level 2 ADAS. ADAS refers to the Advanced Driver Assistance System. It is getting more and more popular, particularly in the mid-size SUV segment in our market. But this is the first time that a compact SUV gets the Level 2 ADAS. Note that the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet get ADAS, but it is Level 1. That is a relatively rudimentary level of this active safety package. The Level 2 ADAS setup of the Mahindra XUV 3XO contains front RADAR, front camera, surround cameras and ultrasonic sensors. The top applications of this include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- 360-degree Surround View System
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Autonomous Emergency Braking
- Lane Keep Assist
- Land Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Warning
- Smart Pilot Assist
- High Beam Assist
- Traffic Signal Recognition
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for Cyclists & Pedestrians

360-Degree Camera
Next up, we have the 360-degree camera. Now, this is a crucial amenity which allows the drivers to manoeuvre the car in and around tight spaces. This includes parking lots, as well as narrow streets. The driver gets a view of everything around the car. In this manner, he/she can drive the car around without any fear of getting stuck in a tight spot. Also, this camera further helps with the ADAS functioning. Needless to say, this function is much needed in the larger XUV700 due to its sheer dimensions.
AdrenoX Connected Car Tech
The new Mahindra XUV 3XO also comes with AdrenoX connected car tech app which we first saw on the XUV700. This application offers 80+ features which enhance the connectivity and convenience of the passengers and driver. Many features can simply be operated using this application remotely. For instance, the one aspect I particularly like is the remote-controlled dual-zone automatic AC. You could set the temperature and fan settings according to your preference before even entering the cabin.

Dual Digital Display
The first thing that one notices when getting into the XUV700 is the Mercedes-like connected dual display – one for the driver’s instrument cluster and one for the infotainment. While the appearance is slightly different, the new XUV 3XO also gets two 10.25-inch screens. This elevates the overall premium vibe of the cabin. Also, it represents a modern SUV which sets the mood for what is being offered on the inside of the car.
Mahindra XUV 3XO Specs
The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with three powertrain options, just like the pre-facelift model – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol direct injection engine producing 130 hp and 230 Nm (best-in-segment), a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine generating 110 hp and 200 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine which churning out a decent 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. These engines pair with either a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission or a 6-speed AMT. Mahindra claims a mileage of 18.89 km/l for the regular turbo petrol and 20.1 km/l for the direct injection turbo petrol. The prices range from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh, ex-showroom.

Our View
Loading the XUV 3XO with features from the XUV700 is Mahindra’s way of announcing a fight. The competition in this segment is extremely fierce with SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. To grab a large chunk of this space, it is crucial to offer something truly unique. Mahindra is surely offering some incredible features which belong to cars one category above. We just need to wait to see how well the customers embrace it.
