In this post, I shall list 5 key features which the Mahindra XUV 3XO will get but the Maruti Brezza doesn’t. Note that the XUV 3XO is the facelift version of the XUV300. Mahindra launched a couple of teasers for its upcoming compact SUV a few days ago. While the detailed features list of the SUV is not out yet, the teaser throws light on some of these. Hence, I am able to compare this to one of the highest-selling SUVs in this segment, the Maruti Brezza. Let us delve deep into this.

Panoramic Sunroof
Let us commence this list with one of the biggest talking points from the teaser, the panoramic sunroof. Now, we know that Indians are obsessed with sunroofs for some reason. But it will be the first time a compact SUV will get a large panoramic sunroof. It shows that the Indian auto giant has taken the customer feedback and implemented it while designing the facelift version of the XUV300. That is why we see this large sunroof. I feel many potential buyers will get drawn to the XUV 3XO simply because of this amenity.

Bigger Touchscreen
The next element on this list is the bigger touchscreen display. We know that the Maruti Brezza offers a 9-inch display for the infotainment. However, looking at the teasers of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, I believe that its display should be at least 10 inches large. That is at par with the latest industry standards. Having techy connected car features and infotainment functions has become common in this day and age. Therefore, the customers are likely to be wooed by a larger display.

Ventilated Front Seats
The next element on this list is the ventilated front seats. This is one function that is mostly seen in cars of much higher categories. We know that India is primarily a hot country. Hence, it pays to have a luxury like ventilated seating. The Maruti Brezza doesn’t get this function but the teasers of the Mahindra XUV 3XO showcased the perforated upholstery, indicating that the compact will offer this to the customers. I believe this could be a huge point in the Indian carmaker’s favour.

Digital Instrument Cluster
Yet another convenience-enhancing feature on the new Mahindra XUV 3XO will be the digital instrument cluster. Note that the Maruti Brezza has a part-digital setup with an MID in the centre. Hence, the former will have a distinct advantage in this regard. I know from my experience that a digital instrument console ensures crisp and easy-to-read information. Moreover, there are many ways to customize the display as per your desires. That is also a huge deal for some people.
Turbo Petrol and Turbo Diesel Options
Finally, I understand that the new Mahindra XUV 3XO won’t be any different to the existing XUV300 when it comes to powertrain options. At the moment, there are three engines on offer – a 1.2-litre turbo petrol, a 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. It is the only SUV in its class that gets two turbo petrol mills. Also, Maruti Suzuki has quit offering diesel engines in its lineup for a while now. Hence, it loses the advantage of this key comparison. Potential owners of the Mahindra XUV 3XO will have a huge range of choices to decide as per their requirements. That is a huge positive over Maruti where the same 1.5-litre petrol engine finds home under the bonnet of multiple cars like the Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz and Grand Vitara.

Author’s Note
Looking at the past record, I know for a fact that Mahindra loves to kit out its products to cater to a wide audience. That has been its go-to strategy for the longest time. In fact, we know that even the current model is well-loaded when it comes to modern amenities for convenience, comfort, connectivity and safety. However, one thing to remember is that only the top model will come with all the aforementioned amenities. It means that it will be a top-of-the-line model with a rather extravagant price tag.
For reference, the Brezza retails between Rs 8.34 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh, ex-showroom at the moment. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV300 sells between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 14.76 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, there is already a considerable Rs 62,000 price gap between the two with the Mahindra being the more expensive one. With the facelift, these prices are bound to rise even more. In that sense, perhaps the Maruti Brezza could emerge as a more value-for-money proposition. Still, those seeking the highest levels of comfort and convenience will opt for the top trim irrespective of the price tag. The launch is slated for April 29, 2024. We shall bring you more updates when we witness the SUV in the flesh.
