Since the 5-door Thar will borrow various elements from the Scorpio N, we might see it with similar powertrain options as well. The Mahindra Scorpio N provides two engine choices – a 2.2-litre turbo diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. These engines deliver varying power outputs, ranging from 132 PS (Diesel), 175 PS (Diesel) to 200 PS (Petrol), with distinct peak torque figures – 300 Nm (Diesel), 400 Nm (Diesel), and 380 Nm (Petrol), respectively. Buyers can opt for either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the higher-end models feature the convenience of a 4×4 setup (4XPLOR), significantly enhancing the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. We expect all these elements to make it to the 5-door Thar as well.

Author’s Note
The existing constraint of the 3-door Thar lies in its limited cabin space, affecting its practicality. To overcome this issue, the forthcoming 5-door model extends its wheelbase, significantly improving suitability for larger families and overall accessibility. This design enhancement particularly benefits the rear legroom and the boot compartment. The reception from customers regarding the more spacious Thar is eagerly anticipated. Given the success of the 5-door Jimny, there is curiosity about whether the 5-door Mahindra Thar can replicate such triumph in the market
