The 5-door Mahindra Thar Armada has been testing on our roads for a long time now. In fact, the off-roading enthusiasts are on the verge of getting frustrated by the spy shots of the test mule. Mahindra has been testing the off-roader across various terrains and regions of the country. This is critical to ensure that it is able to demonstrate its true capabilities irrespective of the external environment. However, in this latest instance, the driver of the test mule shouts out the launch date of the 5-door Thar. Let us take a look at the details here.
5-Door Mahindra Thar Armada Launch Date
The details of this case emerge from carbabba on Instagram. It captures the heavily camouflaged off-roading SUV plying on the road. It looks like some hilly area. That is generally where the SUV owners will take the 5-door Thar. Someone driving in the opposite lane shouted at the driver and asked about the launch date. To this, the driver replied 15th. Hence, it is unofficially confirmed that we will see the 5-door Mahindra Thar Armada within a week’s time. That is exciting news for the Thar loves for sure. Still, I can’t confirm or deny this claim.
In the past, we have spotted the test mule on multiple occasions. We know that it will get a larger touchscreen infotainment display in comparison to the regular Thar. Apart from that, it will be based on the same platform as the Scorpio N. In fact, it will most likely even borrow powertrains from the Scorpio N. Hence, we could see it with a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel mill. Note that it already gets these engines but in lower states of tune. Finally, it goes without saying that there will be sophisticated 4×4 technology with terrain modes to lend it unparalleled capabilities to traverse across any obstacle.
Our View
I am quite excited about the 5-door Mahindra Thar Armada. Thar is the most popular and successful off-roader in the country. However, the only issue with it was its 3-door configuration. That made it quite impractical in real-life situations. Also, the boot compartment was too tiny to be of any use. However, the 5-door iteration addresses and fixes those issues. The extended wheelbase will allow adding another door for easier ingress and egress characteristics and the boot compartment will be larger. We will know more details at the launch.
